| Our current facility offers a very comfortable and laid-back, nonsmoking, and home-like recording environment. We are currently expanding our studio to a much larger space. This new space will afford our artists and guest instructors the added amenities of having a kitchen and living area, a comfortable eating area, internet access, a coffee bar, a full bath, a custom isolation room, a live room for numerous vocalists or intimate recordings, and a control room large enough to accommodate training and engineering/sound mixing boot camps and mentoring.
The completion date on the new studio will be forthcoming, as will application information for the boot camps. For immediate information about any of our services, please contact us, and we'd be happy to answer your questions.
WE ARE FAMILY FRIENDLY:
We understand that a client's family may wish to visit South Main Studios and meet the people who are working with their loved one on their project. A client can prearrange to tour the SMS facility with their family when the studio is not in an active session. The number of guests may be limited. We require an advance request for a tour of one week or greater in order to coordinate schedules with the client, the SMS staff, and the client's producer(s). Any children under the age of 13 must have adult supervision at all times while at SMS. But being supervised does not mean that the children need to remain wall flowers. Our heart is to also mentor the youth, and further stir their curiosity of music, design, and sound engineering. We welcome any questions they might have.
If children under the age of 13 are the Client or part of the ensemble being recorded, we do ask that they also have adult supervision, as well. That may be in the form of another ensemble member, or a separate caregiver they bring with them. Please keep in mind that we are happy to work with you, and we do make exceptions in some cases. We require notice at time of booking if children of any age will accompany the artist at any time to the studio.
We do not provide childcare, but there are several well-appointed parks with play equipment within a short walk of the studio, should an artist need to bring along their child and spouse/caregiver while they are in the studio or anywhere on site. There are on-demand childcare facilities within a few minutes of SMS. There are also several nearby recreational/entertainment establishments that are indoors for children and caregivers to enjoy during the winter months or in bad weather.

DINING & RECREATION:
In the new studio space, if an artist would like to break for a meal, they are welcome to bring in their own refreshments and store them for the day in our studio refrigerator. We will have a microwave for reheating items. Water, coffee, and hot tea bags are also available.
We are within a very short walking distance to downtown Wake Forest. Many different downtown restaurants await you, as well as, retail shops, art galleries, the library, and parks. Within a 5-10 minute drive of our studio there are many other mainstream restaurants, several coffee cafes, shopping, hotels, grocery stores, minigolf, several 9+ hole golf courses, a roller rink, a YMCA, movie theaters, a bookstore, and Starbucks. Falls Lake and Falls Lake Dam also offer trails and recreational areas for hiking, picnicking, or kayaking.
SMS IS CONVENIENTLY LOCATED:
We are within a 30-40 minute drive to downtown Raleigh, 45 minutes to RDU airport, 3.5 hours from Charlotte, N.C., 2.5 hours from Richmond, 8 hours from Atlanta, and conveniently located to major highways US 1 and I 540 (off of I 85 and I 40 respectively)
